Thamesians 1XV

A forward dominated game finished by backs

Thamesians traveled over to Kilburn for their second game of the season. Expectations were high for both teams as they put on convincing scores against their opposing teams the week prior.

Could thamesians pull it off…

The first half orders were given by Skipper Rajan to be calm and controlled, the men obeyed scoring 2 try’s in the first half. One from Arlind Cela running a lovely support line off Felix Hamilton, and the other scored by Felix himself as he ran from the half way line evading 6 Kilburn players in the process. The game plan of running and expansive rugby came into full fruition there, following on from last game. Not to mention Kieran Morgan’s trusty boot, as he converted a tough penalty kick 35 metres out from the far left side of the pitch.
The half came to an end Thamesians were steadily ahead of Kilburn 17-0.

The second half however, was a turning point for the T’s as six tries were scored this half. Despite this, that wasn’t to say Kilburn didn’t put up a fight with their forwards being the driving force of their two converted tries. Thamesians knew there had to be a slight adjustment to the game plan, as it became a forward dominated game. With this in mind, T’s still managed to execute their running rugby with debutant Sam Donnelly picking a hat trick. In addition, three more tries were scored this half by the fly half Greg Illingworth, number 8 Lorenzo Masselli and the scrum half Luca Torres-Maurel.
This ensured a well earned 57-14 victory over Kilburn, setting a positive note on a great start to this season. Thamesians now look forward to their upcoming game against Watford at home on the 12th of October.

Special mention to Kacie Addison for making a small guest appearance at 13 from his usual flanker position, not to mention this was all after getting home at 6am after a heavy night pervious which culminated in throwing up before the game and Head coach Stu Making him do a bronco at the end of the game. Never to forget David Hill for playing the full 80 minutes at prop, what a boy. Finally Ash Morgan for being a fully broken man but putting in a shift, for us after we had 2 last min drop outs performances like that don’t go unnoticed at the club!
