Wasps Summer 10s Tournament

Wasps Summer 10s Tournament

More SIlverwear for Ts

Grey skies looks to be the theme of this summers events for the club. With Wasps 10s upon us, the Lads in flames were ready to make it 2 from 2. This tournament's skipper being Peter Booth, last seasons players player, with an impressive 0 tries to his name we can only attribute his success with his horrible northern chat. Pete being under pressure by his predecessor and fellow northerner Eddy Fogg for winning silverware at summer social had this to say “pressure makes diamonds” with this onto our first game… we came second, losing 20-5 to a strong Wasps side. Torrential rain didn’t dampen the mood, knowing a win or Draw in the next game gets us into a Semifinal the lads faced Belsize Park, with heavens opening up a strong display from both sides saw a 7-7 draw, we had made it to the Semis!

After what seemed age to wait in the rain and wind we faced a determined London Japanese side but with the boys seeing the chance to make it 2/2 this summer a motivated Pete led the team to a strong 36-5 win.

The final had London New Zealand waiting for us, having had a walkover in their semi, the NZ boys were ready for a game. Knowing only 20min was between us and another trophy the lads went to work building up an impressive 21-point lead, the game was won at this point, time to play with some flare, it ended in a 47-14 win for T’s… the treble was on!

Again we thank you all for the support shown on the day even with shocking weather.  Having the women playing alongside us made the day one to remember for the club, they narrowly missed out in the final but what a showing from them! We’re looking forward to fatblokes where we’ll look to make it 3/3.
